Hey guys, I've decided to buy a new computer to allow me to play one of my most favourite games Company of Heroes Very Happy . One problem through, i want to put the settings on high so in order to do that i need a kick ass graphics (video) card. Im open for suggestions, and it would also be very nice if the graphics (video) card is very good and can allow me to play all games on high settings. My price range is between 100$ - 300$. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Im looking for a graphics card that will ensure settings on high for COH, and if possible settings on high for several other games (example: IL2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, the entire coh series, and Company of Heroes Tales of valour). The price doesnt matter, all i need at the moment is suggestions Very Happy

Thanks for help through Smile

I say yes go for it, built system for step son with HIS 4870 and was really impressed with performance. I run gtx 280 h2oc for my own system which is much more expensive but choice was only because i run watercooled PC and HD4870 had limited waterblock choice at the time. You can expect equal performance from 4870 and if you feel the need to upgrade later on you can just add another one in crossfire(2 4870 in crossfire better than 1 4870x2).Let me know how u get on when system finished.

Well processor is really a question of budget; if your flushed go for Core i7 system as they're best processor around. other wise I'll suggest quad core in either 45 or 65 nm format but need to know your budget to make recommendation, also depends on motherboard and if you're ready to overclock it.
For example my system is q6600 GO stepping that overclock safely to 3.2ghz but got the right motherboard to do so(abit IP35 pro XE) with watercooling to keep system safe. Too many variable to suggest one processor in particular but if you give me a budget I can give you a couple of complete system suggestion and use it as template for you to choose from. I live in UK so price wise for hardware i'll try match canadian dollar as much as possible or tell me where you usualy get your hardware from so i'll pick from their site. Just post here or Email me and I see what I can do.

I could go up too 400-500$, but im buying my pc from a store that lets you build it yourself ( they ask what type of things you want in it). In total im looking for a pc at atleast 1500$, and i play mostly video games on a pc. So i need a pc that wont crash or lag but will also be pretty tough.

By the way man you dont know how much your help is worth too me. You must be one kick ass computer engineer. In my opinion you rock in pcs Very Happy

Thanks

Their website is :

http://www.superinfotech.com/list.pdf

I live In quebec so some words are in french. Their website is pretty ok not the best but, you could give me some recomendations on what to buy. Oh ya and the base well, at that store you choose how large you want the base just incase you want to add or remove things. And, should i get vista or xp professional because if i choose vista ill be more up to date.

P.S. can you name me the most essential parts of a pc? Like processor, hardrive, etc....

THANKS!Very Happy

OK gone through their price list and here's what i came up with:
-Asus P5Q deluxe(make sure bios been updated for 45nm full support)
-E8500 3.16ghz dual core (best your budget will allow and enough grunt for any game)
-2gb ballistix tracer 1066mhz (great memory that will overclock easily to 1200mhz)
-Coolermaster pro 600w power supply
-1gb Sapphire HD4870 graphics card
-2 x LG DVD RW
-Western digital 500gb hard drive
-Antec 900 revision 2 case (easy building case and good cooling)
-XP home edition (forget vista it crashes too much in games)
You'll notice I didn't include sound and network card as motherboard already include decent sound and connection but get yourself an upgrade later and use your cash where it matters for now.The total come to $1498 and you got yourself all the essential.Asus motherboard comes with overclocking software that shall enable you to increase performance but you shouldn't need to, it's also crossfire enable so you can add another identical graphics card in the future. I will definitly recommend that you ask supplier about Bios update and if they can flash it for you, if you never done it before it could give you problem despite Asus Bios Flash utility being quite straight forward. I didn't mention any peripheral such as monitor, speakers, keyboard ,etc.. since you must already have all that but will recommend 24" monitor at minimum 5ms response time to make the best of your graphics card.
Hope that answers your question, if not let me know.

But why home edition, i was thinking like maybe Xp professional. Anyways youre the pro:D. Also, what is a Bios update (its too clarirify what it is, and too also explain to the guy) ? And the monitor, 5ms response whats that? Im sorry if i sound really dumb right now its just that im about to spend 1500$ and i wanna make sure what im getting into Sad. (EDIT) Oh ya at that store i can buy (with the computer) a CD and DVD burner for 40$ each in the computer. I think its pretty good and, you can still play cds or dvds in it Very Happy.

P.S. What is your email, or MSN if you have. Just in case i need a quick response (thank you by the way).

Thanks Very Happy

OK, first the BIOS is what runs the settings of your motherboard and make it more efficient and stable, the tech guys at superinfotech will know what it is if not then you should worry. It's important to have it up to date but you can run it with original BIOS without any problems. just like drivers for graphics card it helps fixing any problem that might have been left unsolved at first release or for the case of your processor makes sure it's running at it's best. Your motherboard was built for the kind of processor I've chosen so you'll be fine but I'm sure there is newer BIOS that will help make it run even better. If they can't do it then don't worry and just go for it as it is.As for XP pro I don't think you need the extra option it gives you considering your gonna be mostly gaming but it's up to you(not worse the extra $60 since you seem to be pretty novice). As for 5ms for monitor it is response time the less the better, for gaming it is the minimum you should go for but 2ms is the best, most 24" are at 5ms but 22" are nowadays at 2ms.
You can always post here or use personal message to contact, I usualy check website couple of times everyday so will answer same day if you got any problem. We all had to learn sometime so I don't mind helping out.
