Computer died

My Dell Inspiron laptop died and refuses to start up again, (the startup files corrupted and to fix it costs almost as much as a new computer) so im left with a graphics cardless HP Compaq d220. Ive read that a Radeon X1550 or a GeForce 6200 will work with the pci slots and it only costs around 30-40$ which would be a temporary solution. Do you guys know of any good desktops that cost around or below 500$ (i am planning to buy a cheaper comp and then upgrade cause im short on money) that i could buy to replace my HP, thanks

best advice i can give-go custom, best way to get the parts cheap enough, and get the right parts so you can upgrade later. most pre-built desktops do not come with upgrades in mind.

Try looking at the low range of dell xps desktops, customize it and just get the bare minimum that may work
