Alright some of you guys may know i have lag issues... so this is the problem I have dsl 1.5 mb dl about 447 kbs ul, which is fine ( its shit but best i can get), when my step mom became addicted to facebook i learned that it lags the living shit outa me, i need a way to limit her bandwidth or set my connection as a priority over hers.
dont give me a link to a website unless you know how 2 use their software ( ive tried a few)
my modem/router ( its a 2 in 1) has a Qos tool but i do not fully grasp how 2 use it
and destroying her comp or just blocking her internet is not an option
any help and i will be thank full
ps i know my English sucks |

id say try some shit that shows you step by step on youtube. or pimp slap her and let her know her limits... butttttttttt You can go on some stupid sites on her site to get her viruses
Or go and get your own connection. get a job and pay for it. its like what? 20 a month to add a separate internet line with the same account |

You could also play with riduculous lag like me and become even mire legendary than I am for dropping games/almost crashing and coming back after about a minute of a frozen screen...it's quite fun especially when ruggg gets mad at you for it
But seriously your best bet would be to disable the Internet on your moms comp cause chances are ahe won't know how to fix it...if she runs vista you could always use parental controls and block fb...I know what your situations like tho, for a bit my 10 yr old brother played AnA online and it raped my connection whatever you do I hope it works out... |

i can look up if there is a way to limit the speed of the wireless signal. |

Well having a router that has QoS, you should be able to accomplish what you want to do.
What exact router is it?
The interface for the QoS may be kinda confusing, but it think the basic idea is give higher priority to the ports your games use, and very-low priority to web browsing (port 80 http)
There are also some open-source router firmwares available that allow you to set priority by specific programs, but you have to have a compatible router.. Tomato is one: http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato
but i would try to get your default QoS working as who knows what could happen trying alternate solutions |

alright spas mustang here it is ActionTec GT7o4WG Rev B then f/q 30.17.0( no idea what that is but it was right below the model#)
for the rest of your guys suggestions i cannot block fb or disable her connection cause then she just turns the modem off and on ( doesn't help me) and we cant get another dsl line ( our neighbors have been waiting for about a year now for a dsl line) |

I'm going to guess that the router is probably assigning IP's dynamically to PC's in your network, where you will probably want to setup static IP's for each PC on your network so you can distinguish from the 2 (or more) pc's. This can be a PITA in itself... If you have trouble you could try keeping dynamic and extend the lease time of IP's to something much larger than 24hrs (86400) .... maybe a year? lol (31536000... lol, not sure it will except value that large)
You may want to enable remote management of your router so you can admin via your web browser which may have an easier to use interface. I took a quick look at the manual for your router and it didn't say much about the QoS setup. but if you really want a headache....
http://support.actiontec.com/doc_files/GT704-WG_NCS_User_Manual_3.0.1.0.6.0.pdf
another option could be to buy a network switch that has some built-in bandwidth management features. Switches are pretty cheap (and small) and easier to configure, just not sure if mom will wonder what that new device behind the router is.. lol |
