What is this site for?

Webcoding isnt something you jump into headfirst...PHP is extremely complicated to setup (MYSQL is impossible for me to wrap my head around), i would recommend you take a look at some html basic coding, thats where i started.

Also ive never heard of PHP CGI, sounds even worse than normal PHP.

Spas can hook you up with some programs that will make it go easier, but you'll end up sitting there scratching your head wondering WTF your doing for hours. And it is something that doesnt happen overnight, spas spent years setting up this site to run as smooth and look as awesome as it does.

Don't get me wrong im not saying you cant do it, im saying its like you just learned how to kick your feet in the kiddie pool then you try to go swim in the ocean.

BTW: fuck grammar i just got off work and im tired as hell -_- zzZZ....zzZZz....ZZZZZzzz....

I guess it depends on what you need your site to do. CGI scripts aren't really for beginners and I have rarely found a reason to use them... PHP isn't too bad to learn if you know a little html first,.. It has built in functions you can use or you can build your own, and there aren't a bunch of commands to memorize like in some languages.

Probably best choice for a beginner, if you are building a community type site, would be to use a CMS (content management system). Which after initial setup can be mostly managed with your web browser and little technical/coding skills.

For that I would recommend RavenNuke

and this outlines the setup
