spastic taking donations for new build, money orders and c.c. are accepted. i am getting ready to build me a new rig within a couple of weeks, if i have any parts left over that may help i will send them to you, the main thing,i think,if your gonna build is to start with a good motherboad that you can upgade as you go along. you can always start with cheap proccer and vid card and minimal memeroy on the cheap, but always upgrade that stuff as you go along. but you cant do that if you start out with a cheap mobo

ok time to revisit this..
Have had a mostly decent machine sitting around for months, because either the motherboard and/or processor is dead... Of course I replaced about everything else to figure that out Smile

So I still have a good AGP card available, but not gonna build around an agp motherboard so scratch that. Have 3gb of ram but probably wont match a new setup so scratch that...

Have an atx window case with mix of ide and sata drives, so I'm set there. Right now it has 3hdd and 3rom drives but I probably don't need all that Smile

So basically... I need a motherboard, ram, processor, and vid card.. Suggestions on the cheap?

I'll probably be getting a newegg gift certificate so that's where I'll be lookin Smile

Really depends which way you want to go for graphics cards.

I like this little setup http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.191004. If the price is too high keep the mother board and find another processor. Supports all of the AMD sockets.

4 gigs of ram for under $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 but if you have DDR2 ram from your old system you can just reuse it.

Ohh the great debate for graphics cards. I like this one, lifetime warranty 1 gig http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150351. Or you could go a little cheaper but most of the cards will be DDR2.

For cheaper video card the HD 4770 his best choice as it comes with gddr5, higher core clock and in latest test was very close to 4850 even with only 512mb memory instead of 1gb. Do you need quad core? if only gaming and not needeing multithreaded capabilties you may be better off with that bundle http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.194243. with spare cash you can upgrade graphic card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102810 .

thanks guys, good advice Smile
see any problems with this??
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=10819472
the price is higher than it will be because you cant add "bundles" to wish lists... probably -$50 to -$60.

Trying to keep it under $300 Smile
not bad for all the core components for a decent pc...

Sounds good enough for cheap PC, just a shame you can't use bundle deal.

thats a pretty nice vid card you picked out there, wont run all the newer stuff on ultra, but high for sure

BTW the cpu you have there doesnt not come with a heatsink (OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer) so you would need to purchase a cooler to keep it cool

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103041

Seems to be the best for the bucks, newegg doesnt carry the one i use anymore

Pain since you're in UK like me you should check out Scan.co.uk they're cheapest on market and great customer service, I use them all the time for my builds. What's your budget and what you wanna play with it apart from COH ?
