OK folks, I come back with more problems from my possessed computer. This one deals with an error that I got in the map editor. Heres what happened:
I tested the map and then after a short while returned to the editor and saved it, but it saved it as test instead of the map name, and I also noticed that my map description and name under the map properties was gone. So I tried loading the original map, which was titled "Journey", and I got an error and crashed to desktop. Once I got back on A&A and tried to load it it gave me an error which basically said that it had trouble loading Journey.RMP and Journey.TGI because of "Mismatched quotes around localized string value", and then it goes on to say the localized string which was the map description that disapeared in the "test" saved map. I put a lot of effort into this map so if anyone know a possible solution or a way to access the map then please tell me. |

The .TGI file is just a text config file so you might open it in a decent text editor, such as the free "crimson editor" and see if anything looks wrong. NOTEPAD SUCKS DONT USE IT!
Heres a sample of what a simple one should look like:
| Code: |
[Text language=Default]
{
ids = map_strings_table
name = "artyflame2"
side_enemy = "Enemies"
side_indie = "Independents"
side_herd = "Herds"
side02 = "Side 2"
side01 = "Side 1"
team_3 = "Team 4"
team_2 = "Team 3"
team_1 = "Team 2"
team_0 = "Team 1"
map_description = "Map Description"
map_name = "artyflame2"
} |
The error message sounds like there may be quotes in the wrong place in the TGI file.. Is it possible you used quotes or other weird characters in the description and/or filename?
You might also try moving the TGI file out of the maps folder and try loading that w/o it in there.
If I'm working on a large file i usually do "Save As" every once in awhile in case something like this happens... You end up with multiple versions something like: Journey01, Journey02, ect... That way you dont lose everything if it messes up |

Spastic you're so fucking awesome. I ended up using notepad against your advice (please forgive me) and it worked. I could kiss you, but then I'd have to punch you in the face to cover up the gayness of the previous action. Many thanks, many many many thanks.
BTW, now that spastic has solved my problem the custom map is being given out over the interwebs. Stop by the A&A lobby and if I'm hosting it then DOWNLOAD IT!!!!11 |

Wow, thanks spastic. First you fix my map then you distribute my map, you're awesome.
BTW I've had alot of people complain about a certain point that they can't get past on the right path. Let me give this helpful hint: get him close to the house. |

Thanks chaos, glad you like it. I spent a month on this mofo, so yes i took my time on it.
By the wizay, I've noticed that some people get confused when the take the left path and head down "the center path", which is the easiest way to haven. I've seen some people go into a side city, Krota, and not realize that the path keeps going and that Haven is close. So if you go into Krota thinking it will lead you to Haven, go back and continue on the path. |

He just means escorts you to whatever decision you've made. If you reach nirvana then you get to see him again and you can catch up on old times over some tea. |
