ok here ya go. i just got off the phone with comcast and they as usual dont know shit. here's the problem.

ive been on the net playin games and shit. all of a sudden the only page my ie can find is ours. i can type in any other website and it tells me im not connected to the internet or the site is down. during this im downloading music from limewire....msn messenger is working and im on teamspeak. so i know im connected to the internet. comcast did a line test and said everything is fine. everytime this happens i have to cycle my modem and router and it fixes it. the bad thing is its starting to happen every day. i also have another comp running wirless off the same router im on and that comp does the same thing. so i know its not vista cause that one is running xp. the only thing i can think of is the linksys wireless router. any one have any other ideas?

do you live near a cell phone tower? or something else that may be interfering with the wireless? Military base?

Sounds like a router is the problem. I have problems from time to time with my router. Same as you said it is connected and you can continue with current programs but can't start up anything new. But mine is a hard line not wireless. I am running a linksys too. Damn those routers.

same here, router doesnt make the problem of internet access any easier.

also neither does comcast. gota make sure u get the "right" person if u know what a mean. try calling a few times more cause sometimes u get someone with no sense of what they are doing, and another who knows exactly what the problem is. Believe me, i know, got comcast too. same old same old.

No, I should have explained that a little better...

The only reason that I have a router is so the wife can play on her laptop around the house and leave my compy alone. But if I want a decent game minus the lag I have to unplug from the router and plug the modem straight into my compy. Once again, stoopid routers. I think it's just old, but it serves the purpose.

routers are nothing but trouble. they make simple shit complicated. id avoid them if at all possible.

Unless you know your shit(i figure dout how to keep mine properly runnign atfer 4 different routers......

And jax, it sounds as if its either your router blocking any new incoming connections. or its a program thats runnign int he backgorund thats denying the conneciton to certain areas of the net. Have you tried using firefox instead of IE? if you havent try that.
