  Remembering

Posted by KMAOmaha on Friday, January 11, 2008 @ 15:20:19 EST (3091 reads)
It has been almost a year since Shane Campbell, known to us all as (KMA)Sublime, passed away.  While most of us old-timers of the clan got to know him very well during his time here, he and I were pretty much inseparable.  It seemed that Sublime and I played every game we could together, and spent time just screwing around with each other late into the night.

When I first joined KMA in the summer of 2004, I didn’t really know many people in the clan.  Granted, KMA was much smaller than it is know, but aside from Jax, Sublime was one of the first people I talked to and befriended.  Our friendship grew over the next few months until we became inseparable.  Jax and Spastic, among others, often commented to me that Sublime and I were like 1 person.  Us 3 were probably hit the hardest from this tragedy.  I speak for myself when I say that I shed tears when I heard the tragic news, and I don’t doubt that both Jax and Spastic did.  I had grown away from the game in the few months preceding Shane’s death, and everyone, including Shane, tried to bring me back to the game I had obsessively played over the summer.  While I tried when I could, I had drifted so far away from Axis that I had basically forgot how to play.  When I learned of Shane’s death, there was almost no point for me to continue playing.  I stepped even further away from the game, and even from the clan.  I seriously considered removing myself because I felt like it reminded me too much of the great friendship I had built with Shane.   I spent a lot of my time contemplating what I could have done with those few months.  Shane and I would have, in all likelihood, grown closer.  I already thought of him as one of my best friends, and I just wish I had more time to get to know him, and think of him as a brother.

As the 20th of January approaches, I would ask our clan to do something in memoriam of Shane Campbell.  For someone you never knew face to face, and only by the name of (KMA)Sublime.  For a friend of mine.  For Shane.

U.S. Outfitting B-2's with Monster Bunker Buster Bombs - Iran May Be Target

U.S. Outfitting B-2's with Monster Bunker Buster Bombs - Iran May Be Target

Newsmax
Monday July 30, 2007

The U.S. is retrofitting its B-2 Stealth bombers with massive bunker-buster bombs - a move that could be a prelude to an attack on Iran and its nuclear facilities.
Iran has refused to comply with international demands that it stop its nuclear weapons programs.
Experts have noted that a U.S. or Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear program could be difficult due to the large number of installations - some of which are buried deep underground in hardened bunkers.
Apparently the U.S. has big plans for Iran

Northrop Grumman announced last week in a little noticed release that the company had begun integrating on the B-2's a new 30,000-pound-class "penetrator bomb" or bunker buster.
"The U.S. Air Force's B-2 Stealth bomber would be able to attack and destroy an expanded set of hardened, deeply buried military targets" using the monster bunker buster, the company said in its release.
The company is doing the work under a seven-month, $2.5 million contract awarded June 1 by the Air Force's Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Northrop Grumman is the Air Force's prime contractor on the B-2, the flagship of the nation's long-range strike arsenal.
The new Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), which is being developed by the Boeing Co., is a GPS-guided weapon containing more than 5,300 pounds of conventional explosives inside a 20.5-foot-long enclosure of hardened steel. It is designed to penetrate dirt, rock and reinforced concrete to reach enemy bunker or tunnel installations.
The B-2 is capable of carrying two MOPs, one in each weapons bay.
"This integration contract is part of Northrop Grumman's on-going effort to ensure that the B-2 remains capable of delivering a decisive blow to an increasingly sophisticated enemy," said Dave Mazur, vice president of long-range strike for the company's Integrated Systems sector.
"It is the first step in helping the Air Force make this new weapon available for operational use on the B-2."
According to Mazur, the Air Force is expected to make a decision later this year on whether to develop a limited operational capability for the MOP, or to proceed with a more comprehensive development program that would optimize the weapon's operational utility.
The current contract will focus on adapting the B-2's weapon bay fixtures to accommodate the new weapon. The B-2 is currently equipped to carry up to 40,000 pounds of conventional ordnance.

Shane Campbell aka (KMA)Sublime (1990-2007)
KMA has lost a dear friend, brother, and clan leader, as Shane Campbell aka (KMA)Sublime, passed away on January 20th 2007. He will be missed, and KMA will never be the same without him, however his wonderful personality, great sense of humor, love of music and animals, and courage, will live in our hearts and memories forever. I ask that all friends of (KMA)Sublime take a moment to remember him in our (KMA)Sublime Memorial thread. Also, over the next couple weeks, Authorized Visitors can enjoy some of his favorite music, on the homepage, rotated daily. Old School KMA are also incouraged to discuss this in the private memorial thread.

Shane Alexander Campbell, 16 of Marietta died January 20, 2007. He was a sophomore at Walton High School. Shane loved his music, computer gaming, sports, and animals. He was also a WWII history buff. He is predeceased by his mother, Holly Campbell. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Terry and Claire Campbell; brothers, Travis and Collin Campbell all of Marietta; His maternal grandparents, Ed and Helen Henning of Sandy Springs; many other aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives along the eastern seaboard, and mid-west also survive.

  100,000 Page Views

Posted by KMAOmaha on Friday, February 09, 2007 @ 21:23:20 EST (2113 reads)
The new KMA Website surpassed the 100,000 page view milestone a few days ago, the first of what will become many milestones set as the KMA clan continues to spread and become more known throughout the gaming community.  Following the Clantoolz era of the KMA Website, which reached 400,000 page views in it's lifetime, it was time for the clan to move on and branch out.  As the new site has only been open to the general gaming community for a short time, there is no doubt that this will easily surpass the Clantoolz site's traffic.

The new KMA Website, built from scratch by KMA Clan Leader and Site Administrator SpasticDonkey, offers many new features that the Clantoolz site did not; as we have a new and improved Roster section, which is still under construction, a new Awards section, 3 different divisions set-up in Axis & Allies, Company of Heroes, and Battlefield 2 and 2142.

At this rate, it will not be long until we have 100 registered site members and 200,000 site visits.

Gaming Accessories: Gaming in the Dark

Posted by enzytebob on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 @ 23:15:49 EST (1609 reads)

Recently I had an impulse buy at the local computer parts outlet, that has been a great asset, so I thought I'd let the KMA nation know about it... A backlit keyboard that allows you the freedom of using your PC in a dark enviroment. I chose the Saitek Backlit Keyboard and got it for about $50US w/o the optional programmable keypad seen at the left. I had first seen a similar keyboard several months ago, but they ran $100US, which I couldnt justify to spend on a keyboard. They do look damn cool though (look)

So think about it, alot better contrast for your monitor in a dark room, and easier on your eyes. Stay away from the really cheap ones though, look for one that has individually backlit keys, otherwise you may not be able to read every key in the dark.
